currentcare Rhode Island’s electronic health information exchange
currentcare is Rhode Island's health information exchange (HIE). An HIE is a secure electronic network that give authorized medical providers
access to patients' health information. With this access, medical professionals are able to give the best possible health care.
Enrollment in currentcare is available at no charge and is completely voluntary. Those who choose to enroll may opt out at any time.
Enrollees also have the option to authorize access to their information for only specific providers.
Participation in currentcare makes medical treatment safer, more efficient and complete. The health information stored on the system
is protected under federal privacy laws and regulations as well as under the General Laws of Rhode Island. currentcare has been made possible
through a joint effort by the Rhode Island Quality Institute and the Rhode Island Department of Health.
